ARTEC x Spectrum SPORT 600 Bolt-on Turbo Set for Nissan RB26DETT

ARTEC Performance has teamed up with Spectrum Motorsports to make the RB26DETT Sport 600 Turbo Set widely available — a combination developed and tested to deliver exceptional response while supporting 600whp on E85 from a stock-capacity 2.6L RB26.

Developing the Complete RB26 Package

When developing our latest range of bolt-on components for the RB26DETT, our objective was to address the key restrictions found in the factory configuration.

We identified several areas where significant improvements could be made:

• Turbo manifolds
• Dump pipes
• Front pipe
• Air intakes
• Factory wastegate actuators

ARTEC has since developed new components to address each of these restrictions, with the goal of producing some of the highest-flowing bolt-on RB26 solutions available on the market.

Our new RB26 air intake system, which was also incorporated into our development and testing program, is nearing release.

Developing the Sport 600 Turbos

When it came time to address the turbochargers themselves, we wanted to create a package that could surpass the stock-frame turbo combinations traditionally used on the RB26 — not simply in peak power, but in response, power delivery and overall driving experience.

To achieve this, we partnered with Spectrum Motorsports, an ARTEC dealer and kit builder with extensive experience in RB26 stock-frame turbocharger development.

Working alongside Spectrum Motorsports and Platinum Racing Products (PRP), we tested and validated the turbochargers in combination with ARTEC’s complete range of RB26DETT bolt-on components.

The objective wasn’t simply to chase a peak dyno number. We wanted to develop a complete combination that delivered the strongest possible balance between response, usable power and top-end performance.

The results exceeded our expectations.

With the full ARTEC stock-frame package, the Sport 600 turbos produced an exceptionally broad and responsive powerband. Experienced GTR builders and owners involved in the testing — including Herman from PRP, with more than 25 years of experience, and Mickey from Round Cat Garage — regarded the overall power delivery as better than anything they had previously experienced from a stock-capacity RB26 combination of this type.

How Far Can the Sport 600s Go?

Testing to date has seen the turbochargers produce 650whp from a stock 2.6L RB26 with a stock cylinder head, fitted with Kelford 264 cams, upgraded valve springs and head studs.

Further testing will be conducted on larger-capacity built engines, along with ported and modified cylinder heads, to establish the upper performance limits of the turbochargers.

For now, however, we are conservatively rating the Sport 600 Turbo Set at 600whp.

Turbo Specifications

The Sport 600 are remanufactured using genuine Garrett Motion made in Japan assembly cores. 

They are supplied with our new 1.0-bar wastegate actuators (with our 1.3-bar actuator option available by special request), and also feature a surge-slot compressor inlet, designed to broaden the usable power curve while helping control compressor surge on engine combinations where it may otherwise occur.

Tested as a Complete System

The accompanying images show several of the new ARTEC components used throughout development, including our:

• RB26 air intake components
• Turbo manifolds
• Dump pipes

Rather than developing each component independently, these parts were tested together to achieve what we believe is one of the best combinations of response, airflow and outright performance currently available for a stock-frame RB26 setup.
